BERLIN DEBUTS "SLAVES OF FASHION" AT GALLERYBAR

(212) 529-2266 NEW YORK (NY) Internationally renowned artist Kevin Berlin will exhibit new works from his acclaimed "Slaves of Fashion" painting series at Lower East Side art gallery/lounge GalleryBar (120 Orchard Street, 212529-2266). The Artist will return from Florence, Italy for a private opening reception to take place on January 18, 2007 from 9:00 PM 12:00 AM. The exhibition will be open to the public from January 19 - March 18, 2007 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm daily.
In this latest installment of "Slaves of Fashion," Berlins mostly black and white "cocktail party" paintings, the Artist delves into the hidden world of "what people are thinking." The paintings were inspired by an ongoing series of personal interviews to discover the secret motivations of fashionable friends, acquaintances and complete strangers. Featured works include: "The Age of Innocence," "The Costume Party," "The Happy Couple," "The Single Girl," and "The Last Cigarette." This exhibition will also feature a 240 pound bronze "inny," "The Colossal Bellybutton" from Berlins innovative Bellybutton sculpture series. " Sometimes people will tell their hairdresser, or a stranger on a train, secrets that they wouldnt trust with their mother, lover or best friend. So much more is going on than first meets the eye..." Berlin, a Yale alumnus, has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Miami Herald, USA Today as well as CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood, MTV, Tokyo Television's "Morning Satellite" program and BBC Radio.
